Jomar Milan @jomarm@jomarm.com

I'm a high school junior from the United States who enjoys technology, reading, and writing. I'm also interested in other creative pursuits such as pixel art, 3D art, digital art, and animation. I enjoy listening to music by Thomas Bergersen and DM DOKURO, as well as several other artists.

The allure of open source software and being responsible for my own services attracts me, though I generally trust large corporations to be able to provide a more stable and attack-resistant service than I can provide myself. When I move to self-managed options, it is typically for the joy of doing so rather than any ideological reasons, though I tend to agree with some of the typical ideological reasons for moving away from large corporations' services.

Using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers gives me so many GL errors and freezes on my computer whenever I use Wayland (kwin and mutter) but works fine on X11, so I guess I'll use X11 for now. I've tried getting NVIDIA and Wayland to work nice for a while, but they just don't seem to mesh.

@jomarm

No issues here at all.

Also proprietary Nvidia, KDE Plasma (6.4) and Wayland, but on Fedora 42.

A distribution specific thing maybe?

Last issue ocurred with KDE 6.0 before they enabled explicit sync in kwin and forced Nvidia to support it in their driver finally.

@patnat@social.tchncs.de Maybe it is. I'm using EndeavourOS. I may try seeing if I can replicate the errors on Fedora later.
